Ecological and biological role of proteins in cells

Because proteins (along with nucleic acid) – a substance of life, their function in the cells are very diverse.

    1. The most important function of protein molecules is the structural feature consists in the fact that the protein – an essential component of all the structures that form the cell in which it is included in a complex of different chemical compounds. 2. Protein – a key agent in the course of the huge variety of biochemical reactions that ensure the normal functioning of living matter, so it had a reagent function. 3. The reaction of the living matter is possible only in the presence of biological catalysts – enzymes, but have found as a result of biochemical studies, enzymes are protein in nature, and therefore proteins perform a catalytic function. 4. If necessary, the organisms, proteins are oxidized and thus energy is released, which is synthesized by the ATP, ie proteins and operate energy function, but due to the fact that these substances are particularly valuable for organisms (due to their complex structure), the energy function is realized proteins organisms only in critical conditions. 5. Proteins can perform the function and reserving, as they are a sort of “canned” materials and energy for the body (especially plants), providing their initial development (Animal – natal, plant – the development of embryos until the young organism – germ).

A number of features characteristic of the protein to the cells and the organism as a whole, therefore, discussed below.
