Children 10-12 years gastric capacity comes up to 1500 cm3, adults – to 3 dm3. People who consume a lot of liquids, the capacity of the stomach even more, and in some cases can reach up to 5-10 dm3. Horses 6-15 dm3 capacity of the stomach, in ruminants – about 100 dm3.

The stomach is the human digestive two cavities that are significantly different from each other in structure and function: fundic and pyloric.

In humans, the volume of the fundus of the cavity is pyloric 4/5 – 1/5 of the total volume of the stomach. These cavities are almost always connected with each other and are separated zhomom muscle (sphincter prepiloricheskim) only in certain periods of digestion. The gastric glands distinguish the main, additional and parietal cells. The main cells of the fundus of the enzymes produced in the extra – mucus and parietal released hydrochloric acid. In the formation of hydrochloric acid involves sulphydryl groups of proteins (EE Martinson, 1952).
The juice of the fundus is acidic, pyloric – alkaline.

In the pyloric part of the stomach are only cells resembling principal, which is much less than in the fundus, and additional cells.
Pyloric part of the fundus is different from the highly developed muscular wall. It is sucked, and the fundus of the absorption is very weak.
